How to comb out wet hair / BEST tip

Sunday, 22 February 2015
Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Hello lovelies! This week I wanted to share with you all a trick I use when brushing out wet hair. I’m sure we have all heard how wet hair is very fragile and brushing it can cause breakage and create fall out. Personally I have to brush my hair as soon as I get out of the shower. I hate having my hair tangled and frizzy looking hair. So how do I brush out my wet hair but still have no breakage? Well keep reading to find out!

First of all what you need is a comb. It’s always easier to brush your hair out with a comb rather than a brush because it causes less breakage and is much gentler on the hair.

Secondly what you need is a hair oil. The one I'm using is a styling/leave in oil which is perfect because it does not leave the hair greasy instead it provides the hair with perfect shine and moisture. You provably don’t want to use an oil like coconut oil because it will leave your hair greasy looking and won’t easily be absorbed in the hair.

So the trick here is to take a little bit of the hair oil on the palm of your hand or put some straight on the comb and then using your hand rub the oil over the comb.

I know this sounds really weird but trust me. It makes combing your hair SO much easier. After you have rubbed the oil on your comb you can start brushing out your hair. It’s always best to start combing the hair from the bottom and working your way to the top. When you start at the bottom all the oil on your comb will get distributed at the ends of your hair. The oil will make the comb glide through your hair easily and will not tug on the hair. When you work your way up to the top of the head, there will barely be any oil left on the comb so you don’t have to worry about your hair weighing down or looking greasy. The reason why I love combing out my hair this way is because when the hair dries it looks extremely shiny and feels very silky. There will no frizz and nor will your hair look dry.

Top 15 Drugstore Cruelty Free Beauty Brands

Thursday, 12 February 2015
I'm back! YAY! I know I haven't posted anything for two weeks and I'm really sorry! I've been busy with school lately so I didn't have much time on my hand.

In this blog post I'm going to share a concise list of 15 drugstore beauty brands that are cruelty free. This is going to be a list of brands that are easily available in most drugstores. Personally I don't always buy from cruelty free brands but I think we can all make an effort to support the brands that decide to not test on animals. Lets say for example you are on the hunt for a new eyeliner. We can all make an effort to purchase one from Physicians Formula rather than L'Oreal. I would rather take small steps and consciously purchase from cruelty free brands whenever I can rather than not care at all.

After doing some research I found out that many of the brands we use are already cruelty free like Milani, Hard Candy or Wet n' Wild. The list also includes some brands that can only be purchased online but the prices are very affordable.

Top 16 Drugstore Cruelty Free Beauty Brands

  1. Flower Cosmetics
  2. Milani
  3. Eco Tools
  4. Pixi
  5. Physician Formlua
  6. Sonia Kashuk
  7. Wet n' Wild
  8. Real Technique
  9. Mineral Fusion
  10. Hard Candy
  11. Makeup Geek
  12. Ardell
  13. Sigma
  14. Jesse's Girl
  15. Zoeava

Please comment and share if you would like a list of high end cruelty free brands :)

Mask of Magnaminty / LUSH / Cruelty Free

Thursday, 29 January 2015
Hey everyone! So I know you have been waiting for the third look on how to wear Marsala but that will be coming to you next week! For this blog post I wanted to review one of my favorite masks for you all. Mask of Magnaminty by Lush has been a favorite of mine for over a year now. I remember buying it because the employee at Lush was raving about it. If you would like to know why I like this mask so much then keep reading!

The mask contains great ingredients like honey, peppermint, aduki beans and vanilla. The gritty texture of the mask comes from the aduki beans. The aduki beans exfoliate the skin in a gentle manner, removing all the dead skin. The china clay pulls out all the impurities from the pores and leaves the skin feeling tingly and clean. The honey in the mask has great antibacterial proprieties. It leaves the face feeling smooth and hydrated. The mask is loaded with great ingredients that help the skin to feel its best.

The reason why I love this mask so much is because of how glowing my skin looks after putting it on. The gritty texture gets rids of all the skin without it being too harsh. The skin is left feeling very smooth. Even if you have sensitive skin this will be a great mask for you. I also notice that it's great for whenever I have any blemishes. The china clay gets rid of all the impurities on the skin and makes the blemish go away in a couple of days. I like to put it on once every weak to keep my skin looking glowing and fresh.

Let me know if you have tried this mask and how did you like it? Also if you have any other recommendations for me then comment below!

Marsala / How to wear it

Hey everyone! So for Look #2 I decided to take a different route and give you girls different ways to wear Marsala other then just on your clothes. This board mostly consists of how you can wear Marsala in your makeup. Other then the makeup I have included a beautiful Marc Jacobs watch which I sadly can't find a link to but you can always find similar styles from other designers. This time I also included a Nail Polish color because I find that to be the easiest way to wear bold colors.

Please leave a comment and share if you liked this post or found it helpful! Also let me know how YOU will be incorporating Marsala into your life.

Make sure to come back next weak for another look around Marsala! <3

Marsala / Look #1

Hey everyone! Welcome back to my blog. Pantone announced Marsala as the color of 2015. Its described as a beautiful 'earthy wine red' that enriches your body and soul. I have put together for you an outfit idea that is the perfect way of incorporating this color. This is going to be the first look out of three that I will posting dedicated to Marsala. I choose to use the shoes and the clutch as a way of incorporating the color into the outfit. The embellished white top tucked in with the leather pants makes for a classy yet edgy outfit. Adding the shoes and the clutch is the perfect pop of color. The shoes and clutch give a lot of life to this outfit while staying on trend The outfit is completed off with a classy pair of sunglasses, bangles and a simple pair of studs. This look is a little edgy yet very chic and sophisticated.

Remember to come back next week for look #2!

#ColorOfTheDay Loreal Nail Color Review

Monday, 12 January 2015

My favorite drugstore nail polishes are from Loreal. They have the best formula out there with some amazing colors. The color I have on is called 'Greyt Expectations'. In the picture it looks a little brown but in reality its a beautiful mauve color with purple undertones. I love this color because it is perfect for everyday. The color isn't bright but it is also not too dark, The polish is very opaque and doesn't need more then one one to two coats. What I especially love about this formula is how fast it dries. I have to wait no more then ten minutes for it to completely dry. I also like how the polish doesn't have a strong smell. Many drugstore polishes tend to have a very strong chemically smell which I hate. Over all I highly recommend Loreal nail polishes.

The Best High End Concealer: Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Flawless Wear Concealer

Wednesday, 7 January 2015
I purchased the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Flawless Wear Concealer about six to seven months ago and I can honestly say it’s become a holy grail! It easily covers up my hyper pigmentation and any acne I might have. The colour I use is Medium and it is the perfect shade for me. I find it perfect for both oily and dry skin as it does not cling onto dry patches and does not get too shiny throughout the day. If you have extremely oily skin then you might need to touch up with a powder once but that’s it. The formula of this concealer is so easy to blend. It gives a medium coverage and can be built up to a full coverage. The consistency is thick yet very creamy and easy to blend. It does not crease nor oxidize throughout the day. The concealer looks very natural on the skin and does not look cakey. It can last anywhere from 7-8 hours depending on the weather or how much you touch your face. The doe foot applicator is easy to use and gives the right amount of product on to the skin. Over all I cannot say enough good things about this concealer!

Estee Lauder offers a large variety of shades from light to dark making it easy for everyone to find their perfect shade. You can also purchase a shade lighter to highlight under your eyes. The price for the concealer is $24 and the tube contains 0.25fl oz of product.

The best and worst of The Body Shop (Cruelty Free Brand)

Sunday, 4 January 2015
Hello everyone! For my first ever blog post I thought I would give you a run down on some of the best and worst products of The Body Shop. I have to say most of the products I have tried from The Body Shop have been a hit but there are a couple that are not my favourite. If you found this blog post helpful then please comment below letting me know.

The Best

Body Butters: The Body Shop is known for their luxurious, silky and smooth body butters. They are so easy to apply on the skin and leave the body feeling soft and moisturized. If you are someone who does not like feeling oily after applying a body product then these products might not be for you as they do take quite a while to sink into the skin. I like to apply them before going to bed and the next day my skin feels super soft. The product provides 24h hydration as it claims. Over all I highly recommend the body butters.

Frosted Cranberry 192g:  $20
Mango 48g:  $6

Body Polish: The body polishes are quite new to me but I have to say I love them! They provide the right amount of exfoliation for the body without being too harsh. The product claims to have cranberry extract as one of its ingredients which gives the product a settle yet beautiful scent.

Frosted Cranberry 75ml:    $20

Lip Balm: The Body Shop lip balms are a great product to have. They give nice hydration to the lips and are also really easy to throw in a handbag. The balm might look heavily pigmented in the tin but on the lips it gives a sheer wash of color. I personally like that because it is the perfect color for every day.  One downside is that you do have to pick the product up with your fingers and then apply it to the lips which can get a little sticky.

Frosted Cranberry Lip Balm 20ml:  $6

Shower Gel: Most of The Body Shop products are a great hit and it’s no different for this one. Mango is my favourite scent from the body shop as it’s so tropical and fresh. The shower gel foams up easily on a luffa and is easy to apply on the body. Over all it is a great and easy product to use.

Mango Shower Gel 250ml:   $9

Eau De Toilette: I hadn't tried any of The Body Shops perfumes but recently picked up one of them and I absolutely love it. The Frosted Cranberry scent is settle and soft. What I really enjoy is how the perfume does not smell chemically when you first spray it on (I’m pretty sure you know what I’m talking about). They are a great everyday scent and perfect for people who aren't into strong scents.

Frosted Cranberry 30ml: $15

Bath Lilly (Luffa): The Body Shop luffa’s or a Bath Lilly as they like to call it are the best. They last a really long time and don’t loosen and unravel as many luffs’s do after a couple of uses.  They are really sturdy and are not too harsh for the body.

 Bath Lilly:   $3

The Worst

Skin Clearing toner: The Tea Tree line is very famous at The Body Shop and I have tried quite a few of the products like the face wash and the tea tree oil. The face wash and the oil were not bad but they also weren't that good as they didn't do anything for my skin. The toner was the most disappointing of all though. First off you really have to shake the bottle so the stuff at the bottom can mix in with the liquid. I have to usually shake for a good 20 to 30 seconds for it too all mix up. It might not seem too much but if you have to that everyday then it can become pretty annoying. The product itself isn't that good. If I have a breakout and apply this product on then it stings where the breakout is. This product claims to be a skin clearing toner so it definitely should not do that. Over all this is just not one of my favourites from The Body Shop.

Tea Tree clearing toner 250ml:  $12

Tea Tree Concealer:  I don’t even have a picture for this product as I threw the product out a couple weeks after I bought it. To start off the concealer only has two shades to choose from; Light and Medium. Secondly the concealer is very thick and dry. It clings right onto the dry patches of the skin and looks cacky. It also is a difficult product to blend out because of its formula. Over all I do not recommend this product.
